King scallops for me are very aptly named, one of the true jewels of the sea. Amazingly naturally sweet and a real treat. They are expensive but if you can buy them live in the shells, they will be considerably cheaper.
Getting down and dirty
Buying them in the shells comes at a cost though! Preparing them yourself at home can be a messy job especially if you don't know what you're doing.
No specialist equipment is needed
All you need is a table knife and a sink with plenty of running water
